Dolce & Gabbana The Brand
Who are D&G? Dolce & Gabbana’s first collection appeared in 1985 at the Milan Fashion Week, as one of five new Italian fashion labels launching that year. But, it was Dolce & Gabbana’s fourth collection that really saw the brand take off, drawing inspiration from Domenico Dolce’s strong Italian roots and the collection was photographed in black and white pictures reflective of Italian cinema from the 1940’s.
Dolce & Gabbana first launched into underwear in 1989, and menswear in 1992. Over the years, the brand been well supported by celebrities such as Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Whitney Houston, Beyonce, and also the Argentinian football superstar Lionel Messi.
The D&G Underwear diffusion line was developed in 1994 aimed at the younger market, but was recently merged back with the Dolce & Gabbana brand in 2012 to give the mainline collection more support.
